I joined Irving Knight as a graduate in July 2019 and was quickly given the freedom to manage my own desk, build a network in my market and independently handle calls with high-level clients. Although there’s a lot to learn, the senior management and other consultants have done a great job of making sure that I picked up all the skills needed to succeed.
The office is full of young professionals and there’s a strong social element of working at Irving Knight. Monthly social events and other group activities are great for getting to know everyone, and I felt like I fit in the office in no time. The whole office is ambitious and committed to growing the business, which really adds to feeling like part of the team!
The uncapped commission, as well as incentives including holidays, shopping vouchers and meals are a great reward for the hard work, and I was able to benefit from these even in my first year in the job. Moving forward I’m confident I’ll be able to do so even more, and this is really a great place for graduates to get ahead early in their career and get rewarded for it.
I have been with Irving Knight since the company has formed and been a part of the fantastic growth that we have seen over the last few years. During that time I have worked with some of the biggest companies in the world as well as some of the most exciting start-ups.
My first year in recruitment – to be frank – was tough. I struggled to achieve any success which was a concept entirely new to me at the time. I had great support from both my manager and director who believed in me and continued to guide me. Unlike many other recruitment companies, Irving Knight looked at my potential and work ethic, as opposed to simply seeing me as just somebody behind their target.
I have now kicked on, made several placements with substantial commission, received a promotion and am poised to achieve even more next year. Whilst my own internal perseverance mattered hugely, the support and belief that was given to me by senior management at Irving Knight made me confident in the knowledge that I would eventually succeed.
